IPEN 2020 Contact Tracing Apps Webinar

IPEN 2020 Contact Tracing Apps webinar The EDPS cordially invites you to an Internet Privacy Engineering Network (IPEN) Webinar on Contact Tracing Apps as a large scale exercise in privacy engineering to be held: Wednesday 21 October afternoon Kindly hosted by TU Delft on their Big Blue Button online learning platform.

This webinar replaces the workshop traditionally organised as a co-located event to the ENISA Annual Privacy Forum, which this year will take place online, too.

This webinar will take stock of the recent and ongoing experience with Covid-19 contact tracing apps.

The worldwide character of the pandemic and the public debate on the suitability of certain technological measures have boosted what can maybe be considered as the first privacy engineering exercise at a global, public scale. In the webinar we want to listen to developers' and regulators' relevant stories and foster the debate for possible lessons learned with a focus on data protection by design and by default practices.

Webinar concept:

The webinar will be opened by a keynote of the European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech WIEWIOROWSKI

The first part will see developers and epidemic experts share their experience of designing contract tracing apps while taking into account data protection requirements

In the second part data protection supervisory authority representatives will tell their accounts about advising on and supervising those apps.

Both parts will be followed by Q/A sessions.

After the conclusions we will keep our virtual room open for a networking chat among us.

A detailed agenda will follow in the coming days.

The webinar will be recorded. Only speakers should use their camera and microphone. If you wish not to be recorded, please simply mute your audio and disable your video feed.

There will also be another room open after the event for networking purposes, where the proceedings will not be recorded.

The workshop is free of charge. This is a public event and no registration is necessary. Should you wish to receive a reminder 15 minutes before the event, and be informed of future similar events, please join the IPEN mailing list.

To know how we process your personal data, please read the Data Protection Notice.
